Wedding Anniversary

Today is my 21st wedding anniversary. Yeah us! 21 years is a really long time, yet sometimes it seems like just yesterday. When a memory comes up, I think “how can that have happened 10, 15, 20 years ago?” We will think of something that happened way back when we bought our first house after our first anniversary. That was 20 years ago! Are we really old enough to even say something happened 20 years ago?!! Apparently we are now! Yikes! Back when we were kids, if we saw someone who was 50, we would think they were like 100. Nope, 50 isn’t that old anymore. Of course, sometimes our daughter acts like we are 100, but when she’s sucking up she tells me I look like I’m 28. Good girl, you can have whatever you want honey.

We have had a good life together these 21 years. In my husband’s business, he had the opportunity to travel for conventions twice per year for a while and I was able to go along. We had the chance to go on some nice trips we would never have been able to afford on our own. We didn’t have children yet so we could freely travel without babies or children in school. We may have waited too long to have our daughter, as we were 40 when we had her and now we feel old, but she is keeping us young. I say that we are “experienced”. I see many moms around school who are in their mid-20’s and I think they are very young. (I could be their mom! ha ha) I would have been a horrible mother if I had my child in my 20’s. I was too busy having fun and experiencing life. I’m glad I waited, but maybe should have had her about 5 years earlier so I could have just a tiny bit more energy. But then again, if I had her 5 years earlier, she would be 5 years older and almost ready to leave the nest, and I’m not ready for that.

I’m blessed to have found my husband. He is the love of my life. We went to college together, had the same major, graduated one semester apart, and lived about 3 blocks from each other, but never knew each other. We met through a personal ad in the newspaper in a completely different city 6 years after we graduated from college. It was totally fate. He’s the one I’ve been waiting for all my life. He has made all my dreams come true. He is my true prince charming. And believe me… I have kissed a lot of frogs.
